How to use Paypal to shop on Aliexpress?

You want to pay for something on Aliexpress and you want to use Paypal to do it? I’ll tell you whether you can and how right here.

Right from the off you should know that not all aliexpress sellers accept Paypal for payments. Aliexpress in the past did allow customers to pay for anything with Paypal but this changed when Aliexpress became unhappy about the high commissions Paypal were charging. After a while Aliexpress brought Paypal back in as an option but left it up to sellers to choose whether they wanted to accept Paypal as a way to be paid.

Which sellers on Aliexpress accept Paypal?

Unfortunately Aliexpress doesn’t have a system in place or filters that enable you to search through Paypal accepting sellers solely. Which leaves us with a headache because when we find something we want but the seller doesn’t accept Paypal we have to then hunt a seller selling the same thing and also accepts Paypal which might not always be possible.

Why do some Aliexpress sellers not accept Paypal?

Sellers on Aliexpress have very valid reasons for not wanting to use Paypal. They want to avoid being scammed out of a product. I have experience with this not on Ali but on Ebay where i sold a bunch of ps4 games and the buyer claimed i never sent them and Paypal sided with him and refunded him even tho i did send them. Slightly stupid of me to not send them recorded delivery, lessons have been learned. Point is i understand why sellers are reluctent to use Paypal.

How to pay with Paypal on Aliexpress?

If you are lucky enough to find an Aliexpress seller who accepts Paypal ( scroll down the page for a list of sellers) then great. I’ll run you through the process of paying with Paypal using the images below.

I have found a mobile phone where the seller accepts Paypal. I didn’t actually have to look hard in this case, i simply searched ‘mobile phone’ and this Paypal accepting item below came up 6th in the results.

We know this seller is accepting Paypal for payments because the Paypal logo is included in the list of payment options.

Aliexpress Fee for using Paypal

We are ready to buy so we hit the buy now button and are presented with this next page on which we will enter our address, check what we are buying is correct, and choose payment method. NOTE: The fee Aliexpress is charging here for this item. These fees vary depending on an items price but in my experience the fee has always been around 4% of the cost of the product.

Now hit the confirm and pay button. Use or enter any coupon codes you may have. If you don’t have any take a look on google you can often find some of you can visit this link and see what aliexpress coupons are available

Now you will be redirected to Paypal, simply log in to your Paypal account to start the payment process.

Next we choose our payment source, this would be our Paypal balance or any of the debit/credit cars you have stored on your Paypal account.

Now we just confirm to ourselves that we have chosen the correct address and payment source and click the pay button.

Once payment has been made (i didn’t want the phone so i didn’t pay) you will be redirected back to aliexpress with details of what happens next, which is usually payment confirmation and details of shipping etc.

Is there anything i can do if a seller doesn’t accept Paypal?

I have in the past reached out to sellers asking them directly if they would accept Paypal with varying results. Only once out of 5 attempts (1/5 isn’t bad) did i get a seller to allow me to pay via paypal – he sent me an invoice on Paypal and we did business which was great but the other 4 sellers either turned me down or didn’t reply. What i learned was there is no point trying to explain your situation since it gets lost in translation. Instead its better to simply ask “Will you accept Paypal and send me invoice”.

There is another way i have heard of but i have never used it nor do i know much about it, its called AliexpressAgent – It’s basically a middle man/woman that allows you to buy anything from Aliexpress using Paypal and other payment methods. Frankly im unsure so i won’t be trying it but i felt it should be mentioned if you want to do your own research.

Am i protected when paying with Paypal on Aliexpress?

Absolutely – You are protected by Paypal no matter which online marketplace you buy products from. If you are not happy with your product from Aliexpress you simply open a dispute on Paypal. And lets not forget your buyer protection with Aliexpress. In effect you are doubly protected.
